Assembling a shrine is an act of love, as well as art. Shrines can be a celebration, an act of remembrance, or simply a symbol. We want every artist to find an empathy with a particular place, or feel a bond with an object, somewhere in Stromness.
Each artist to use the box provided. It can be altered or embellished in any way you wish. Shrine to be placed responsibly, where it will not impede traffic or people. Shrine to be secured safely in place, with the owner’s consent if attached to property. Shrine to be in place (please inform us of the location) by 6pm Saturday 20th October - a map will be printed. This is a public area, so all work is left at the artist’s own risk. All works to be removed Sunday 28th October, and the site left in the same condition as found.
