contribute to sucking mud...

We are always on the look out for new, fresh content for forthcoming issues of sucking mud - and have developed some submission guidelines below to help you.

sucking mud's manifesto is...

To avoid the main-road, and look for the dark and dangerous side-alleys of artistic traffic;

To encourage and share creative, innovative and experimental work by writers and artists;

To work to give the editors a regular high from opening truly exciting submissions; and

To look for artists and writers of wit and energy amongst both the established and beginners seeking a space to express themselves.

Submission guidleines & returns policy:

All submissions will be considered for inclusion, however publication of work is at the discretion of the editors and submission does not guarantee inclusion.

As we are encouraging material for which there may not be a place in mainstream publishing, there is no direct payment for published work. We will, however, give you a voice and disseminate material in the public domain. (Of course, you will also receive a hard copy of sucking mud to keep and put aside as a treasured possession!).

If you send us work to be considered for publication in sucking mud, please include a stamped addressed envelope (SAE), so that we can return your work. If you don't include an SAE with your submission for sucking mud, we cannot guarantee safe return of your contribution.

Where possible, or appropriate, please send us copies of your work - not the originals - in digital format where possible (via email or CD/DVD).

Send your contribution(s) to:

Our email address is info@suckingmud.org.uk

Submissions can be digital, drawn, and painted - or even hand-written - but should be capable of being scanned on an A4 scanner and printed at A5 size or below. Images and photographs should work well printed in black and white.

If you’d like to include a short bio about yourself, or a statement to accompany your contribution, we’ll ask our hard working gnomes at sucking mud HQ to try to get that squeezed in too.

You must be the copyright/IPR holder of the artwork/text you send to us. Where possible, please send us recent, original and/or unpublished material.

If possible, please keep your written contributions short (long prose and short stories may not be able to fit due to the size of sucking mud).

All copyright remains with original authors/artists. Permission must be sought directly from the creator to reproduce any work found within the print or online versions of sucking mud.
