. hartlepool
Hartlepool is a coastal town (population approx. 98,000) in the North East of England. Today's Hartlepool was created in 1967 by the almagamation of the ancient town of Hartlepool, which is locally known as the Headland, and 'West Hartlepool', the 19th century town which developed with the expansion of the railways and docks.
Rik and his partner Clare Gee moved to Hartlepool after graduating from Falmouth School of Art & Design in 1992. Until 2004 they lived on the Headland, close to the North Sea.
Rik set up his business, watson press website design & authoring, in 1996, alongside making artwork. He also worked in Hartlepool as a sessional artist and IT trainer at an adult mental health day centre and as the Project Manager of PortCities Hartlepool, an online learning resource which focuses on Hartlepool's important maritime history and development.
Rik and Clare relocated to Orkney in 2004.
