This Week's Music for Grown-Ups on Radio/TV

Your exclusive listening/watching guide … thanks to compiler Mike Ollier:

Radio For Grown-Ups

Weds BBCR2 22.00 ~23.00
* Charles Hazlewood (3 of 6)
The guest this week is, er…

Weds BBCR2 23.00 ~ 23.30
* Hep To The Jive: The Cab Calloway Story (3 of 4)
Well… er, dunno what it is this week.

Fri BBCR6 21.00 ~ 22.00
* Theme Time Radio Hour with Bob Dylan:
This week it's, er … it's Monday evening and guess who still hasn't updated their website?

Fri BBC3 22.30 ~ 23.30
* Jazz Library: Audience Feedback
Another of those stupid request shows where members of the listening public foist their choices on others instead of just listening to their own CDs in the comfort of their own home; the radio equivalent of those idiots who go to live shows and shout song titles out at the artist. This show at least has the twist of being recorded live at the QE Hall with some London Jazz Festival guests.

Fri BBC3 23.30 ~ 01.00
* Jazz On 3
The last of 3 special shows from the Jazz Fest and coming live from The Southbank Centre ~ Gutbucket, Tom Arthurs and Dave Kane.

TV For Grown-Ups

Weds C4 0010 ~ 0015
* White Stripes: Video Exclusive.
It's the, er, White Stripes. With a video exclusive. Probably.

Fri BBC4 20.00 ~ 21.00
* Legends: Carmen Miranda ~ Beneath The Tutti Frutti Hat
The fruity headgear wearer is profiled in another superb Legends programme.

Fri BBC4 21.00 ~ 22.00
* Brasil, Brasil
Bossa Nova is looked at in the second part (of three) looking at the music of Brazil; music and interviews from Gilberto Gil, and the rise of Tropicalia (no Madam, it's not orange juice).

Fri BBC2 23.35
* Later with Jools Holland
The Who will perform "My Generation" and "The Seeker" tonight, apparently. Alt Co singer/songwriter Josh Ritter and the amazing Bela Fleck, a banjo player who fuses bluegrass and jazz, are also on hand in a strong show. Robert Wyatt is the unlucky interviewee.
