05/10/2004 Gillian Welch on TV this weekend
Alt.country diva Gillian Welch has been one of the most refreshingly vital performers on the world stage for several years. She's currently touring the US and is due to perform in Aus/NZ for the first time in November (details: please click on Gigs for Grown-Ups, from the home page). And UK readers with Freeview access can check out Welch for themselves this weekend. Along with David Rawlings, she recently recorded a set to be broadcast on BBC Four this Friday, 8 October, at 2100-2200; repeated early Sat at 0305-0405, and then Sunday 1215-0115 (ie Sat night). Highly recommended: Gillian Welch is a leading musician for grown-ups.
