08/09/2004 Rolling Stones prices crash
The UK retail sector has decided it's time to shift some Stones product. Deep discounting is raging throughout the land. Music Zone, the fast-growing national chain of music/book retailers, is selling the remastered ABKCO Stones albums at silly prices. Bargain of the decade is the 3CD box, Singles Collection - the London Years, at £8 (it normally sells at £25-30). Bill Wyman's sumptuous coffee table book, Rolling with the Stones, RRP £30, was available last weekend at the same store for £8. And Music Zone isnn't the only retailer looking after the interests of Stones fans. According to the Rolling Stones, the equally sumptuous official competitor for space on your coffee table, launched a year ago at £30, is now widely available at under £10. And the beautiful little paperback version, published last week, can be bought at Borders for just over £5. Gerry Smith
