Panthalassa by Miles Davis, via Bill Laswell

"OK", came the request, "recommend a little-known album that I can take to the beach and listen to over and over, without tiring, and then rave over."

We could have hyped any one of dozens of great albums, but for some reason, out popped Panthalassa: the Music of Miles Davis, 1969-74 - Bill Laswell's divine reworking ("reconstruction & mix translation") of electronic doodlings from fragments recorded by the Prince of Darkness.

Miles for grown-ups who take their music seriously...
