20/07/2004 Astral Weeks - the most popular classic rock album
Though it didn't sell in great numbers at the time of release, Astral Weeks, Van Morrison's classic 1968 album, continues to impress new generations of music fans. Astral Weeks' continuing popularity is confirmed by a new poll of readers just completed on Music for Grown-Ups. The poll asked readers to rank five of the most enduring classic rock albums. They put Astral Weeks way ahead, with 35% choosing it in first place, easily in front of Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde (21%); Revolver, by the Beatles (15%); Tonight's the Night, by Neil Young (14%); and the Rolling Stones classic, Exile On Main Street(13%). Thanks to all readers who took part.
