08/07/2004 Chuck Berry/Jerry Lee Lewis: praise for Portsmouth show
Reader Keith Robertson writes: "At the Portsmouth Guildhall show, the link between the theatre and the artists was a bit uncoordinated/casual. However, the singing performance of both Chuck and Jerry was exceptional, given their ages. Chuck's sense of humour was as keen as ever. "The only downside was that Chuck's guitar was so over-revved as to be unpleasant to listen to - were the sound engineers fast asleep? Fortunately, his backing group was the best I've heard and supported him well."
