23/04/2004 Richard Strauss? No thanks - reader feedback
Alan Douglas writes: Capriccio is a miracle of opera writing, and a delightful essay discussing the relative importance of the words and the music, executed in an engagingly gamesy way. I recommend you watch the Glyndebourne recording with Elizabeth Soderstrom, on an evening when you are wide awake, patient, and willing to delve. I saw it 25-30 years ago, and still it gives me thrills. If anyone knows how to get a CD or video of this, pleeeease let me know (via editor@musicforgrownups.co.uk)!
