Ella Fitzgerald's Verve singles - first time on CD

Ella Fitzgerald's Verve singles have just been released, many for the first time, on a double CD, Jukebox Ella: The Complete Singles volume 1 (1956-66). For part of this period, Ella and Verve founder Norman Granz were preoccupied with the landmark Songbooks series. The lesser-known material now being made available is partly composed of Songbook and later material which didn't make the Verve LPs.

Meanwhile, London megastore music retailers are currently selling the highly recommended Ella sampler, Ella Gold (2CD, 2003) at a heavily discounted £7. It should be in every grown-up CD collection.
