12/02/2004 Miles Davis box sets - last in the series, and lower-price reissues
Columbia, diligent curators of the legacy of Miles Davis (and Bob Dylan, for that matter) have announced that Seven Steps To Berlin (the last box set, numbered 3 in their series of seven), will be released in September this year. Boxes already released in this highly-acclaimed series are: 1. The Complete Miles Davis With John Coltrane (1955-1961) 4. The Complete Studio Recordings Of The Miles Davis Quintet (1965-1968) Three other Miles boxes on Columbia - The Complete Live at the Plugged Nickel, The Columbia Years, and In Person (live at the Blackhawk) - are outside the numbered series. Columbia/Legacy are to cease production of the box sets in the deluxe metal spine format. The boxes are to be re-issued, with simpler packaging, as specially-priced editions from May this year. Good new for Miles aficionados.
