05/02/2004 Talkie Walkie, by Air (New Release)
I just can't stop playing Talkie Walkie, the new release by Air. The talented French duo's hypnotic fusion of dance beats, trip hop, trance, all enriched by their charming Gallic pronunciation of English lyrics, will have you spaced out within minutes - without the help of substances. It's simply destroying my will to work. Shades of Kraftwerk, Spiritualized, and even Jean Michel Jarre, but it's uniquely individual, too. It's rare that I'm bowled over by a top ten pop chart album, but this one's a stunner, easily my record of 2004 so far. And because it's a massive chart hit, it's widely available for well under £10, virtually everywhere in retail England. And, if you hurry, you'll also get a free bonus DVD of live performances. Aux magasins, mes braves!
